There once was a boy who loved a girl..and that is how all sweet love stories should start...
And the girl loved him too.
But then of course there must be a conflict...so here it is.
They were destined to never meet, never speak, never touch.
How can it be they loved so much?
Theirs was a meeting of the minds
A sort of finding one's own kind
A way to pass a dreary day
To blow the doldrums out the way
A chatter here, a jokey laugh
A search for finding a desirous path.
She was alone, except for him
And he was around all sorts of kin,
But none who loved him quite as she
If only this love was meant to be.
And so they staggered through each day
Always searching to find a way.
To be together, for only a moment or two ..whatever would do.
And then one day she wasn't there,
He couldn't find her anywhere
If only she'd give him just one word,
A voiceless song from his little bird
To let him know her love was true
That she was his, so that he knew.
But still all was silent, not a sound
He wondered if she would ever come round
Desire his constant and culpable friend
Had him believing their love would soon end
But then like a lightning bolt sent from the sky
His lover came back, her words formed a cry
Here I am come to you, from off so far
Here I am come to you, here where you are
And into his arms she perfectly stood,
All was now happy, an infinite good
And though the distance was far off as ever
They both knew that they would hold on forever.
So remember dear reader, my cautionary tale
Even if your love is far off as well
Distance cannot drive the hope from your heart
Just say one word, it's a good place to start.
They'll know that you love them
They'll know all is well
They'll know all the things you've been dying to tell
Just one little word, rings clear as a bell.
