Drinking the Night

A certain satisfaction is possible when spending the majority of your evenings all alone. You can make all the decisions you like. Want to cook a huge feast? Do so. Want to nibble on your doggy bag from Wednesday's meal out? Why, go right ahead. Watch what you like, listen to what you like, smoke if you want to, drink whatever you please.
..inhale..exhale...just...breathe...
Spend long hours in a hot bath, indulging yourself in scent and soap. Don't use a towel when you get out. Instead, wrap yourself in a well worn cotton men's shirt and drip dry on the patio, a spicy martini in your hand. Suck on the olives and ignore the drink. Watch the sun go down while writing your evening blog post in a thick notebook that will someday be discovered and have you answerng questions to a raised eyebrow and a questioning stare. I am really loking forward to that conversation actually...
...who me..?
Put your pretty toes up on the patio railing and let the evening's cooling breeze blow beneath your shirt, teasing you. Take a sip of the night as it pours down over you. And when it has closed in, delicious and dark; when the shades of your neighbor's windows are closed and the lights are dim, let the night take a sip of you.

...dancing...with words...
Stroll across the yard, slipping the shirt from your shoulders as you go. Step one delicate step after another into the velvety warmth of the pool. Sink yourself into its depths as the water dances over your naked skin. Delight in every inch of goose flesh.
...let your senses take over...
Float on your back and look into the sky. Find your name in the stars, as the steam rises from the water into the cool night air. Dribble droplets of warmth onto your chin, your throat, your breasts and feel it slide back down into the darkness.
...enjoy the melt...
Don't think. Just dream. You're alone...and you can do whatever you like...or need. Drink in the night.
...delicious...
